What is a nature school?
A nature school, like Cosmic Roots Nature School, is an educational approach that integrates outdoor, experiential learning with traditional academic subjects. Students spend significant time outside, engaging with the natural environment to learn about sustainability, environmental stewardship, and practical life skills. This hands-on approach fosters a deep connection to nature, promotes physical activity, and encourages curiosity and exploration. Nature schools often emphasize project-based learning, community involvement, and the development of social, emotional, and cognitive skills through interactions with the natural world
What grades does Cosmic Roots provide services for?
We currently provide services for students ages 3-15.
Are snacks/lunch provided?
We will provide a daily snack for all students in the program. Lunch will need to be brought from home as there are currently no hot lunch options available.
What supplies are required?
The supplies/material fee covers any required supplies throughout the year. Each day, please ensure your student brings a water bottle, a lunch bag, sunscreen, bug repellant, and a head covering, as we will spend most of our time outdoors.
What does a typical day look like?
We meet Monday - Thursday from 9am - 3pm. Our typical daily routine follows this format:
8:00-8:50 - Arrival [this time will allow for Free Play, Outdoor Chores, and Tutoring]
9:00 - Morning Gathering & Announcements
9:30 - Learning Period 1
11:45 - Lunch and Free Play
12:30 - Specials [may include Art, Theater, gardening, cooking, Music, PE, etc]
1:30 - Learning Period 2
3:05-3:30 - Outdoor Free Play & Dismissal
Will there be after school care?
Yes! Afterschool care is offered from 3pm to 6pm. Please refer to the tuition schedule for pricing information.
What is your current tuition?
Tuition varies by program and age group. For specific details, please refer to our tuition schedule or contact our admissions office. There are other additional fees required and options to purchase special programming such as our Farm Fridays program.
What is your technology policy?
While we recognize the educational value of technology and electronic devices, we prohibit learners from bringing personal electronic devices to school. When technology is needed for learning during school hours, we will provide the necessary devices and ensure proper and safe usage under teacher supervision. As learners advance to higher grades, access to technology will increase accordingly.
